This study set out to gauge how today’s recreational boat owners think about environmental sustainability on the water. Specifically, the research probed the importance owners place on eco-friendly practices, their interest in and openness to fully electric boats, and the benefits or worries they associate with going electric. A further aim was to see how these attitudes shift across demographic and usage variables such as boat type, size, and primary on-water activities.

Insights came from an online survey conducted in May 2025, among 772 verified U.S. boat owners aged 18 and over. Together, the sample provides a robust snapshot of current owner sentiment and the market’s readiness for electric boats.
